WHAT IS NoDaWEEN?
NoDaWEEN is an annual event hosted by the NoDaNBA the Saturday before Halloween. Located in the historic NoDa arts district, this community fundraiser is in its 4th year and continuing to grow. This year, NoDaWEEN will be held on October 26 and includes 4 major events: KiDaWEEN, Freaky 5K, NoDaWEEN Party, and Rocky Horror Picture Show, as well as several business-run events around the ‘hood. Each year a minimum of 20% of proceeds are donated to a selected charity; in 2013 the beneficiary is Running Works.
Running Works is a non-profit running program that uses its funds to encourage the homeless community in the city of Charlotte to rediscover the power of teamwork, discipline, confidence, and respect for each other ... one stride at a time. Running Works uses money raised to: aid in the resume building and job interview process, assist with obtaining jobs, as well as to purchase clothes, shoes, and transportation passes. The NoDa Neighborhood and Business Association is the official “Voice of the Arts District”: a volunteer-run nonprofit organization that supports the residents and businesses of NoDa. Established in 2001 as the Historic North Charlotte Neighborhood Association, we are a grassroots organization and a federally recognized 501(c)3 charity. We preserve the history, art, small businesses, and character of this unique Charlotte enclave. NoDa NBA relies on the efforts of our sponsors, donors, and volunteer staff to keep the neighborhood alive, vibrant, and streaming with tourists.
